Searching Blue《寻蓝》is a site-adaptive work by T.H.E’s Founding Artistic Director, Kuik Swee Boon. Stirred by his observations of what goes on in his daily commute and inspired to redefine the relationships we have with our environment and the people around us, the performance is a journey that begins in a contained area and moves out into the public space—one that infiltrates our everyday spaces, encourages us to take a pause from our daily routine, and compels us to ponder about our relationships with one another and with the environment around us.
A work that was originally conceived and created as a gift back to the community in Singapore in the year of T.H.E’s 15th anniversary, Searching Blue《寻蓝》was created in collaboration with Malaysian sound artist, Kent Lee, and five full-time main company dance artists. The work not only brings a professional contemporary dance work into the public space, but also seeks out the intrinsic desire for connection in today’s society and rekindles the innate sensitivity and empathy that we have towards one another. Audience members can expect intimate moments with the performers, who may invite some to hold a hand or to connect in various ways.

"...feels like an optimistic look into the future, as the dancers dash off into the distance, boldly moving together to confront whatever lies ahead.”
— Richard, Bakchormeeboy, Singapore
“The performance transcended into an energy field; it wasn't just one of the scenes anymore. As the energy radiated in all directions, tears welled up in my eyes. This is the power of life—this embodies the innate spirit woven into our very existence!”
— Doris, audience member, Penang (quote translated from Chinese to English)
“A beautiful experience that... made me feel connected to nature, architecture and people... I left the performance feeling my senses awakened. Powerful performance...”
— Rachel, audience member, Singapore
