T.H.E Dance Company
The Human Expression (T.H.E) Dance Company is a contemporary dance company founded by Artistic Director Kuik Swee Boon in 2008. Rooted in Singapore, T.H.E creates works that look closely at everyday experiences, relationships and the ways we navigate the world around us. Through the body and movement, the company highlights moments and experiences that often go unnoticed, challenging audiences to find new or different ways of seeing ourselves and the world we inhabit.
At the heart of T.H.E’s artistic practice is HollowBody®, the company’s movement methodology and philosophy. It explores the relationship between one’s state of being and the act of performing, drawing on deeper impulses and embodied knowledge. The practice begins with an awareness of our physical, mental and emotional states, and an acknowledgement of the self, while remaining responsive to the choreographic, spatial and relational demands of each work.
To date, T.H.E’s works have travelled to over 50 cities across more than 20 countries. The company also runs cont·act Dance Festival, an annual meeting ground for artists and contemporary practices, reflecting T.H.E’s ongoing curiosity about what dance can be in the world today.
