Look out, look carefully; what do you see?
PheNoumenon《现·象》is an insightful work by T.H.E Dance Company’s founding artistic director, Kuik Swee Boon, that delves into the intricate relationship between humanity and the natural phenomena that encompass our existence.
In PheNoumenon《现·象》, the free spirit breaks away from hegemonic thinking—the habits, cultures, and systems that lie hidden beneath the facade of a thriving modern society. As we navigate the complexities of our world, the work encourages us to reflect on the lessons we can learn from the socio-political, technological, and environmental chaos that threatens to disrupt our lives.
PheNoumenon《现·象》, imbued with raw intensity, urges the audience, positioned in various islands within and around the performance space, to question and examine our perspectives on the world around us. Using d&b's three-dimensional soundscape system, Kent Lee's masterful composition and blend of sounds envelops the audience, creating an immersive auditory experience that intensifies the call for introspection.
Look in, look closely; what have we become?
