Silence

Synopsis

Silence deals with the concept of communication breakdown. Our current lifestyles teeter on the brink of information overload as our senses are constantly assaulted by the drone of everyday urban living. However, one questions whether we truly connect to our surroundings. We speak but do not know what we mean, we hear but do not truly listen.

Silence began as a ten minute piece choreographed in 2006 for the Asian Arts Festival in Beijing, China. In 2007, the Esplanade commissioned the full length version and it premiered at the studio theatre that year as part of the Esplanade dans Festival.
