Develop a deeper understanding of how your body moves through a concept-driven approach to contemporary dance. This foundational course equips dancers with practical tools to analyse, break down, and embody movement with greater clarity and control.
Develop a deeper understanding of how your body moves through a concept-driven approach to contemporary dance. This foundational course equips dancers with practical tools to analyse, break down, and embody movement with greater clarity and control.
Each week introduces a key conceptual skill—ranging from weight transfer and joint placement to movement dynamics and body texture—that supports more intentional and expressive dancing. Classes follow a progressive structure: a warm-up to prepare the body, a guided task to explore the week’s conceptual tool, a short set that applies the concept in varied ways, and an extended set that remains constant across the six weeks. This extended set serves as a cumulative practice space where dancers can integrate everything they’ve learned into a single movement sequence.
Whether you’re new to contemporary dance or looking to strengthen your technical foundation, this course offers a clear framework to help you understand your body, refine your movement choices, and build confidence in both practice and performance.
