A recipient of the NAC Arts Scholarship and Georgette Chen Arts Scholarship, Goh Shou-Yi holds a BFA in Dance and Diploma in Dance from State University of New York (SUNY) Purchase College and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) respectively. He was selected by Lianhe Zaobao as a “rising star to watch” (2015艺术新星-照耀未来空) in 2015. An adjunct lecturer with NAFA School of Dance, Shou-Yi is also an Associate Artist with T.H.E Second Company and Dance Nucleus, where he has been actively collaborating with both local and international artists to create and present dance choreographies and performances. Beyond dance, Shou-Yi further took on the role of a collaborator in The Orange Playground (2016) led by Haresh Sharma with The Necessary Stage (TNS), as well as in the 1 Table 2 Chairs Experimental Series (2017) presented by The Theatre Practice, Singapore. He was also a movement choreographer for PRISM (2017) by Toy Factory.
Shou-Yi’s upcoming projects in the capacity of Movement Choreographer include Exile or Pursuit《放逐与追逐》under the direction of Jalyn Han as well as The Year of No Return by TNS, a festival commission for Singapore International ARts Festival (SIFA) 2020.
