Goh Jia Yin’s passion for movement began at a young age; she trained competitively in artistic gymnastics before stepping into her first (Chinese) dance class at the age of 12. A leap of faith after graduating from SMU with a Bachelor’s in Business Management saw her pursue Dance in Singapore at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), then in New York at the Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College, SUNY under a scholarship from NAC.
Jia Yin has performed in a diverse assortment of works by international and local artistes. When she was based in New York briefly, she performed with Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company for its 2015/16 season.
Equipped with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts (Dance) and certifications in other movement modalities, namely Gyrotonic, Gyrokinesis, and Balance Body®️ Pilates Mat and Reformer, Jia Yin juggles between teaching dance and movement classes rooted in the work of GYROTONIC®️, and Pilates at various studios and institutions. She is an adjunct lecturer at NAFA, and an Associate Artist with T.H.E Second Company, where she dances, choreographs on an ad-hoc basis, and teaches. Jia Yin also finds joy and fulfilment in helping her range of clients and students with differing needs tap into the potential of movement as a form of therapy, injury prevention, as well as athletic and mindfulness training to enhance performance. She is a firm believer that a functional body makes for a happy and expressive body.
