Olé Khamchanla, a Lao-French choreographer, founded Kham Company in 2011 to explore the fusion of hip hop, contemporary, and traditional Southeast Asian dance. Trained in hip hop and capoeira, his work is deeply influenced by the traditional dances he learnt in Laos and Thailand. He also founded the Fang Mae Khong (FMK) International Dance Festival in 2010.
—
This workshop combines Kham's signature style with improvisational prompts, focusing on physical awareness, body mechanics, and rhythm. Participants explore hip hop and contemporary dance techniques, experimenting with movement, flow, and momentum. Through guided tasks, they work on floor work, isolation, and articulation at various levels, unlocking creative movement patterns and expanding artistic expression.
