Currently the Associate Choreographer of the City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC) in Hong Kong, Mui Cheuk-Yin was trained in Chinese classical and ethnic dance, and studied modern dance in New York. She was principal dancer with the Hong Kong Dance Company (HKDC) from 1981 to 1990.
Mui became an independent choreographer / dancer / teacher in the 1990s, receiving frequent commissions by the HKDC and the CCDC to create new works. Her major works include Eulogy, la grace, October Red, and The Tale of Miles in Triptych. Mui has also been invited to numerous international arts festivals such as the Venice Biennial Dance Festival (1999), the Lyon Biennale de la Danse (2000), and the Beijing Modern Dance Festival 2001.
For her stellar achievements, Mui received the Chief Executive’s Commendation for Community Service in 2007.
