Moving towards Grotesque

Using movement vocabulary from Panzetti / Ticconi work Harleking and rhythmic exercises, we will investigate the dynamic metamorphosis between various kinetic conditions while drawing inspiration from ancient grottesca (grotesque) symmetric patterns. We will also examine the muscular response to laughter, transforming this into a kinaesthetic expression of Commedia dell'arte* figures.

*Commedia dell’arte (comedy of the profession) was an early form of professional theatre. It was an exclusively Italian phenomenon until it was popularised and spread throughout Europe between the 16th and 18th centuries.
