Choreographed in 2010, The Man In The Centre signals Swee Boon Kuik‘s artistic shift to focusing on the intrinsic nature of an individual’s existence. Opting for a more organic creative process, he focuses on individuals who look inwards in the attempt to find their centre in modern life; a journey in search of that elusive element that makes us who we are. This work does not begin with any grand concept or theme but instead attempts to flow in a way that feels harmonious; using the simplest and most basic artistic means to find fundamental and revealing answers to a person’s identity.
