Anna Rouhu studied lighting design at the Theatre Academy of Finland (Teatterikorkeakoulu) completing her Masters Degree in May 2009. She currently works as a freelance lighting designer both in Finland and internationally. Her works consist all forms of performing arts from live art to opera.
In Finland she has worked with well-known directors such as Saana Lavaste, Atro Kahiluoto, Eero-Tapio Vuori and playwright-director Marjo Niemi in both established institutions as well as experimental projects. Notable productions in Finland include Henrik Ibsen’s Peer Gynt (2009), directed by Eero-Tapio Vuori at the Kajaani Theatre; Naytat Vieraalta Rakas (2009) with Marjo Niemi at the Teatteri Jurkka; Don Giovanni (2011) at the Savonlinna Opera Festival and Alkutuotanto (2012), a collaboration between Teatteri 2.0 and Kotka City Theatre directed by Saana Lavaste and Iiristiina Varilo.
Since 2009 she has worked closely with T.H.E Dance Company designing lights for numerous productions such as Within.Without (2009); Silence – T.H.E First Anniversary (2009); O Sounds (2010); The Man In The Centre (2010); As It Fades (2011) and for main shows in the CONTACT Contemporary Dance Festival 2010 and 2011. Her most recent works with T.H.E are Silences We Are Familiar With at the Esplanade da:ns Festival 2012 and CONTACT 2012 main shows.
